El sector comercial de Ciudad del Este quedo paralizado debido a la manifestación organizada por el intendente, Miguel Prieto Vallejos en favor de la corrupción y la impunidad. Los dueños de comercio y los trabajadores informales fueron obligados, bajo amenaza, a no abrir sus negocios. Los seguidores del jefe comunal también enviaron advertencias a los sacoleiros para que no crucen este martes 15 el Puente de la Amistad.
Comerciantes de Ciudad del Este lamentaron que una vez más ellos sean los perjudicados por una movilización cuyo foco esta en otro sector. Prieto había firmado un acuerdo con los gremios de comerciantes y empresarios donde se comprometía en que ya no se realizaría manifestaciones en el sector comercial, pero el jefe comunal no cumplió.
En la mañana de este martes 15 los trabajadores fueron a sus puestos de trabajo, pero las firmas comerciales por temor a hecho de violencia no abrieron sus puertas.
Esta misma determinación adoptaron los trabajadores informales quienes si fueron amenazados por los seguidores de Prieto y funcionarios de la comuna quienes les exigieron parar para así apoyar al jefe comunal quien fue imputado acusado de haber rodado alimentos que debía ser para familias pobres en pandemia.
Los comerciantes dijeron que esta situación estampa a los turistas, sacoleiros, afecta la imagen e Ciudad del Este y del país, y les deja millonarias pérdidas.
