La séptima fecha del Torneo Clausura de la Copa de Primera se abrió con una victoria de Resistencia sobre Sportivo Ameliano por la mínima diferencia de 2-1, en los Jardines del Kelito.
El equipo celeste del barrio Ricardo Brugada rompió el cero por medio de Diego Martínez, mientras que Fernando Escobar amplió la ventaja a dos goles antes del cierre de la primera parte. A cuatro minutos del inicio de la segunda mitad, Alejandro Samudio marcó el gol del descuento, y el resultado final fue de 2-1 a favor de Resistencia, que llega a 9 puntos, mismo puntaje que el conjunto de la V Azulada.
Por la 8.ª fecha del Clausura, el conjunto que dirige Roberto Torres visitará a Olimpia en el estadio Tigo Manuel Ferreira, el sábado 27 de agosto desde las 18:30 horas, y el cuadro de Humberto García recibirá a 12 de Octubre de Itauguá, en el estadio Martín Torres el domingo 28 de agosto desde las 15:30 horas.
