Agentes de la Policía Rodoviaria Federal del Brasil decomisaron 4,5 toneladas de marihuana que estaban escondidos en una carga de isopor. Toda la droga ingreso a territorio brasileño desde el Paraguay por el Lago de Itaipú. El chofer quien fue detenido dijo que la carga y la droga lo estaba llevando desde la ciudad de Matelandia, ubicada en la zona de influencia del embalse de la usina Binacional. A unos 40 kilómetros de Ciudad del Este.
Efectivos de la Policía Rodoviaria Federal encontraron casi cinco toneladas de marihuana escondidas en una carga de espuma de poliestireno (isopor) industrial. La aprehensión ocurrió en Cambé (PR), en la BR-369 y el camión que transportaba fue detenido porque los agentes vieron que la carga estaba mal atada y representaba un riesgo para el tránsito.
Durante la inspección del camión y la carga, los policías olieron un fuerte olor a marihuana y al abrir parte de la carga, se percataron que los dos grandes bloques de isopor que ocupaban todo el cuerpo de la carretera en realidad estaban huecos y estaban llenos de paquetes de marihuana. Dentro de cada uno de los bloques había más de dos toneladas de la droga. En total, se retiraron de circulación 4.516 kilos de marihuana. Fue necesario utilizar una grúa para retirar las cajas.
Según los agentes que participaron en el decomiso, el ingenio para ocultar la droga sorprendió al equipo: “Cuando nos acercamos al camión y revisamos la carga, parecían dos enormes bloques macizos de espuma de poliestireno, solo después de desatar los cables nos dimos cuenta que la parte superior de los bloques era una tapa y dentro de cada uno había dos compartimentos cuidadosamente preparados para almacenar la marihuana”.
A los funcionarios de la PRF, el chofer confesó que recogió la carga en Matelandia (PR), a unos 45 kilómetros del Puente de la Amistad, y la llevaría a la ciudad de São Paulo (SP). El conductor fue detenido y la droga y el camión incautados.
